Menu Sustains HOC Community Formation

By: Dr. Benie A. Sy

Somewhere in NHA, Kauswagan, every Friday at 6PM, “tinula”, “balbakua”, camote and “saging” were served by Doming and Virgie Malalis for his community brothers and sisters who were attending the foundation courses. This is their call since the start of their group way back in the 90’s, their earlier days as Households of Christ, one of the outreaches of KSD.

This menu was served 10 years ago when Mike Fabello and Benie Sy introduced to them the SOS community for the first time. About three years ago, Ken Noecker dipped his spoon to this menu before he got confirmation on the participants’ willingness to seriously explore community life.

“Through the years, I find it very difficult to lead and bring my brothers and sisters to this end in going into SOS community way of life without the grace from God” says the calm and cheerful leader since the start of HOC, Mert Apanada. But certainly, the menu helped.

District “C” assigned to this mission ever since has a lot of smiles. Full to the brim by this menu are leaders like Dodo Sescon, Nening Absin, Gingging Sy, Elvin Oliveros, Benie Sy, Oca Japitana who also served as facilitators and speakers for the on-going SOS formation courses.
